The sensationally talented group Tangalo in a lively and colourful programme of song and music of Argentina. Saturday 20 September 2014 7.00 for 7.30, refreshments provided.

Tangalo, formed with a fierce desire to inspire and revitalize Sydney’s Argentine tango dance culture, is the brainchild of Emily-Rose Šarkova and Owen Salomé.. Whilst Tángalo plays a wide array of music, ‘golden-age’ repertoire is often featured beside a growing number of original compositions.

Since their debut performance of July 2011, Tángalo has fast become a favourite on the Australian music scene, performing for events such as The National Folk Festival, Made in Argentina Festival, Tango in the Spring, B.A.S.H and Melbourne’s Milonga 100. They have also performed in prestigious Sydney music venues such as The Basement, Blue Beat and created the very popular Tango evenings at the Camelot Lounge. In 2013, Tángalo collaborated with Argentine Singer Fabian Rodriguez in a string of concerts and a tour along with dancers Quique Miller and Belen Silva. Owen and Emily-Rose also recently wrote and directed to great acclaim, a brand new Tango show, Twilight Tango, in collaboration with Butterfly Tango, at Sydney’s Independent Theatre.

2014 is a big year for Tángalo. They have released their debut album – “Good enough for Gringos”, and are recipients of the JUMP grant from the Australian Arts Council, which will see them travel to Buenos Aires for an intense study period with mentor, acclaimed Bandoneonist, Hugo Satorre and upon their return in 2015 tour Australia extensively.
